About Karen Martin
I was shy, growing up. I found socializing awkward because I was so self-conscious. In my mid-thirties, a teaching colleague convinced me to join a public speaking organization, Toastmasters International. They helped me to improve my communication and leadership skills. It changed my life.
In my early years with Toastmasters, I competed in speech contests placing first, second, and third at the highest level, District. I learned many valuable skills: how to engage your audience, speak authentically, and have stage presence. I am pleased to share this expertise with you.
As a retired high school teacher, I enjoy working with others to improve their communication skills. When I am not doing this, I am outdoors enjoying hiking, biking, and canoeing.
